  6. Picture Duplicates
  7. Sometimes you may want to use the same picture more than once in your document.  Pageboy allows you to use duplicate pictures, as many times as you want, without increasing the file size.  When you paste a picture, Pageboy checks to see if the picture is used elsewhere in the document, and automatically creates a link to the original.

  9. Note: Sounds (and Popup Messages) are also shared by duplicates.  This allows you to play the same sound from more than one location in your document.  Should you wish to force Pageboy to paste without checking for duplicates, press the option key while selecting Paste Picture from Edit Menu.

  11. Clone Format/Apply Format
  12. This pair of commands allows you to apply the format from one section of text to another.  (The format consists of the Font, Size, Style, and Color.)  Select a portion of the text whose format you wish to borrow, and choose Clone Format.  Then select the text you wish to apply and choose Apply Format.  This should save you some mouse clicking.

  14. Note: This feature can also be applied to Pictures.  Select the picture whose Click Actions (the format in this case) you wish to borrow then choose Clone Format.  The click actions can now be appied to another picture with Apply Format.

  16. Choosing a Page Color
  17. Some care should be observed when choosing a page color.  A color chosen in one Monitor mode may not be available in another.  For example, suppose you choose a lovely shade of pastel yellow, with your Monitor set for 'Thousands of Colors'.  That same color may appear bright yellow when viewed in 256-colors.  If possible, pick a page color while in 256 color mode.  Better yet, choose, one of the recommended colors from Page-Color Menu.  Always test your finished document with your monitor set to 256 colors, to check for any color discrepancies.

  19. Opening a document
  20. (This is just like any word processor)  Launch the Pageboy Application.  From the File menu select New, to create a new document, or choose Open, to open an existing document.  Once a document has been created, double-clicking the document icon will launch the application for you.

  22. Distributing your document
  23. Once you've registered your copy of Pageboy, you're ready to distribute your Standalone document.  You may create and distribute as many documents as you wish with the one-time registration fee.

  25. Important Pageboy displays a modest credit box at the close of your document.  This credit box cannot be removed or defeated.
  26. Note from the author:  The Pageboy credit box allows me to keep the price down.  I'm trusting that when your reader sees your wonderful document they're going to want to order Pageboy for themseleves.  The credit box ensures that Pageboy is not confused with any other product.  I understand that you want your documents to be as personal as possible, therefore I have tried to keep the credit box very modest.

  28. Custom About Box
  29. Currently, the only way to create a custom About Box for your document is with ResEdit.  (This should not be attempted by the faint-hearted. If you need help, get in touch with me -Rustle)  Once you've built a Standalone, go in with ResEdit and modify the DLOG 1000 resource.  If necessary you can add resources to support your custom about Box (PICTs, ICONs, etc)  DO NOT MODIFY OR REMOVE ANY OTHER RESOURCE!
